The main thing that UK property owners are searching for in their home interior at the moment is comfort, according to one expert who has said that this trend will continue throughout the colder months.
Pippa Roberts, spokeswoman for LAPADA, The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers, said the UK had minimalism for 15 plus years but there is definitely a trend now for moving away from the "cold, stark clinical look" into something a bit more "comfortable, cosy and reassuring".
She explained that adding more traditional design items to your home from furniture to paintings to accessories gives people more of a lived in, decorated look.
"As many people are spending more time at home, they want a bit more of the comfort factor. When buying antiques and vintage, what you buy will be usually one of a kind. It gives you that element of individuality," she added.
That is something people have missed in their homes, as everyone has been aiming to have the same as everyone else and that can get "rather boring", Ms Roberts noted.
With antiques in particular, it is possible to buy quite inexpensive pieces of well-made furniture for not much more than they would pay in a designer high street store, she added.
